Peuple de la Nuit is a tribute to the numerous boys, girls, ladies and gentlemen who posed carefully, or with cheery abandon, for Sanlé Sory’s lens.

When he wasn’t out looking for customers at venues such as Volta Dancing, Calebasse d’Or, Normandie or Dafra Bar, Sory would set off in late afternoon for the remote villages along the Kou Valley, north West of Bobo, in order to set up his own parties.

With his Volta Photo 2CV van, a few lights and a homemade sound system, which would be set up by Mamadou Super, one of his assistant, Sory paved the way for epic dance nights in the countryside buvettes.
